TORONTO, ON - June 10, 2010 - EDge Interactive released the SchoolFinder.com Social Media Index for April 2010. This is an index of select college and university activity on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and blogs. The institutions in the Index are listed on the Social Media Directory on SchoolFinder.com. In April there were 27 institutions in total; 15 universities, 9 colleges, and 3 career colleges. The institutions range in size from 300 to 28,000 FTE (Full Time Enrollment). The average size was 5,800 FTE. All of them, but one, are Canadian.
The Index measures activity such as the number of fans on Facebook, number of video views on YouTube, and followers on Twitter. It also tracks other activity on these social media sites and correlates these activities to key success factors; in effect helping determine what works and what doesn't in social media.
The Index has been running since February 2010 and is compiled on a monthly basis.
